Sigma Studios is a fusion of two of my
passions: music and video games.
I've been developing the video game series
Music Maven for a few years now, working on both the online
version and the desktop version. I have been designing software
for six years and have been playing in bands for eight years.
So this means, if my math is incorrect, that I have 48 years
experience writing music simulation software.
..
Regardless, Music Maven has been my part-time
hobby. Of course I still devote some of my time to music: I'm
currently the singer/guitarist for Six
Sigma, and have been for the last 3 years. Check us out,
buy our album! Can you say "cross promotion"?
After several abortive attempts at writing
a baseball simulation game, I decided that I needed to focus
on a topic that I knew more about. During my years of musical
mediocrity, I have had the opportunity to play at a cornucopia
of crappy bars across the US and Canada - coast to coast; I've
also been lucky enough to release several singles, been on a
few compilations, and even released 1 full-length album. I've
known the ups and downs of band harmony, seen the futility/success
of various promotion techniques. I've seen fellow bands make
it big, others disappear. I have known the sad sad sadness of
playing a bar at 3AM, filled with only the sound guy, the bartender,
and an impatient girlfriend. And I've watched many others suffer
the same humiliation.
All of these are elements that I've tried
to include in Music Maven. My only hope is that I can make Music
Maven as challenging as real life.
