Music Maven Online 2
Development Began: June 2002
Public Launch: June 2002
Game retired: Summer 2003
Due to the unexpected success of Music Maven 1, it quickly became apparent that the game would need to be upgraded to support the growing user community. As such, Music Maven 2 was a complete port/rewrite of Music Maven 1 from ASP/MS-Access to PHP/MySQL format.
It was during Music Maven 2 that the game's popularity really exploded. As of June, 2003, there were approximately 2000 active bands in the game.

Music Maven Online 1
Development Began: Jan/Feb 2002
Public Launch: March 2, 2002
Game retired: June 2002
Music Maven Online 1 originally started merely as a detour while development was continuing on the more in-depth desktop version of the game. In fact, here's a posting back on 2/25/2002 first announcing the game: "Lately I've been working on an online version of Music Maven. The online version of Music Maven is a scaled-down version. Since it doesn't have as many features as the desktop version, development is much easier. I wanted to do this online thing so I can at least get something playable out for people to play with. I'm hoping that feedback on the online game will help with the development of the desktop version."
The game was written in ASP against an MS Access database, which soon created performance problems. But during this period, the player-based was still under 100.
